Saturday, 18th of August, 2018 was remarkably glorious for the political ambitions of Evang. Hon. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie. An eventful day which Hon. Matthew Okorie utilised to officially inform representatives, members and executives of all the Igbo unions and organisations in Finland regarding his political ambition to publicly serve his people as representative of Aba-South constituency in Abia State House of Assembly 2019.

As founding member of Ndigbo communities in Finland, Evang. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie invited all the various Igbo associations, Independent People Of Biafra (IPOB) in Finland, Igbo unions, organisations and Igbo-speaking people in the country to Vaasa, a city in the West of Finland to needfully inform them of his political ambitions and personal intentions to return to Nigeria and willfully answer the clarion call of public service from the people of Abia State.

The event had in attendance Igbo cultural dignitaries and representatives from all recognised Igbo organisations in Finland. Also in attendance were the President General of Igbo Unions in Finland, Barrister Simon Ekpa and Ichie Ichie Clement Anyaegbu (Onodu-Ugo), Prime Leader of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) Finland chapter, and Presidents of the various Igbo organisations in different regions in Finland.

After speaking directly to the people and stating his intentions to all in attendance, the representatives and executives of all Igbo organisations individually spoke and applauded the host’s move to return to Abia State, Nigeria to serve his people, towards structural development and constructive growth of Aba-South constituency and Abia State as a whole.

At the end of the various speeches, the President General and other Presidents of the various Igbo organisations in a unified manner jointly raised the hands of Hon. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie to showily establish their supports, endorsements and goodwills toward the political move and personality of Evang. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie.

The endorsement of Hon. Levite Matthew Okorie by Ndigbo in Finland is the first time a joint section of all the Igbo unions and organisations in Finland are unanimously and collectively endorsing a person who personally wishes to return to Nigeria to serve his people because his people called him.

According to the President, Hon. Matthew Okorie’s decision sets a precedent that is encouraging and worthy of emulation especially for those living in Finland who feel they owe nothing to their kin in Nigeria. He further applauded Hon. Matthew Okorie for remembering his roots and his sacrificial resolution to abandon the comforts and enjoyable lifestyle in Europe to help develop his people in Aba-South and Abia State.

The date, Saturday 18th of August, 2018 which marked Hon. Matthew Okorie’s political endorsement by the Igbos in Finland also happened to be his birthday. Nevertheless, the host informed all those present that his birthday celebration will be as follow-up event which will take place at his residence on Sunday, 19th August, 2018 and that he expects them all to be present.

Surprisingly, the leaders of the Igbo organisations sent their representatives to the birthday celebration of Hon. Matthew Okorie at the latter’s residence on Sunday, 19th August, 2018.

It was during the Hon. Matthew Okorie’s birthday celebration that the representatives informed him of the resolution by the Igbo unions and organisations to sponsor his political bid.

Additionally, friends and Well-wishers who were present at the Hon. Matthew Okorie’s birthday celebration gave an unexpected gift. They fundraised monies to support Honourable Okorie when they learned he was scheduled to travel to Nigeria for his official political declaration slated for September 14th, 2018 at APGA Aba-South Secretariat, 174 Hospital Road, Aba, Abia State.

Evang. Hon. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie thanked them all for honouring his invitation and applauded them for their support, financial sponsorship, monetary backing, donations and immeasurable commitments towards his success and political campaigns.

In addition, he informed them that their messages to the people of Aba-South and Abia State will be duly delivered during his official campaign flag-off in Aba-South constituency, Abia state, Nigeria.
