At a time most Nigerians are plotting and scheming to travel abroad and escape the difficult times in Nigeria, a Nigerian based in Finland is returning to Nigeria to answer the clarion call of his people, a call to serve and help redeem the leadership challenges of Aba, Abia State.
Honourable Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie left his professional career in Europe for the sole purpose of alleviating the leadership suffrages of his people in Abia State.
In 2007, Honourable Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie was part of the few representatives of Abia that started the reparative measures of Aba and political inclusion of Abia youths in all leadership and governmental processes.
During that political discourse, Honourable founded Abia State Youth Political Movement, a platform for all Abia youths to be and stay engaged with the political and leadership happenings in their state of Abia and Nigeria as a whole.
After the elective processes of 2008, Hon. Matthew Okorie headed abroad in 2008, precisely to Finland, a Northern European country to further his academic portfolio, develop his leadership knowledge and internationalise his sociopolitical skills.
His educational sojourn paid off, in a timely manner, he completed a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in International Business from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK), Vaasa, Finland.
Thereafter, he commenced a graduate degree studies. A Master’s of Social Science degree studies in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research at the prestigious Abo Akademi University, at the Western city of Vaasa, Osthrobothnia, Finland.
While performing his academic research activities at Abo Akademi University, Hon. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie founded a foundation, Center for Nigerian Street Children Empowerment Foundation (CNSCEF) to help alleviate the number of street children in Nigeria, especially those in Aba, a location of his primary focus.
Each time Honourable Matthew visited Nigeria, he never fails to interact with his people, social communities and friends. On countless occasions, according to the Honourable “I apprise my people of ideas that could develop and help them in different ways, especially in ways that everyone will feel involved in the growth processes”.
It is during the last visitation to Nigeria that his people told him to return and serve them because he was done with his education and most importantly, all of those ideas he had shared with them in the past have not been executed by their representatives.
They wanted someone they can trust and one whose integrity will ensure an atmosphere for leadership deliverables.
Honourable Matthew was a former Igwebuike ward 7 APGA Councillorship candidate for Abia State Local Government election in 2008 before his educational pursuit.
After due consultations with family and friends, Hon. Matthew has answered his people’s call of service.
This time, he will contest as an APGA Aspirant for 2019 Aba-South Constituency, Abia State House of Assembly, Abia State, Nigeria.
Hon. Levite Matthew Uchechukwu Okorie is a husband, father of two children, devout Christian and a citizen of Nigeria from Amankalu Alayi in Bende LGA, Abia State.
He has promised to wholeheartedly bring positive and fruitful changes to Abia through the application of those knowledge, exposure, experience and expertise he has acquired abroad.
